The Journey

Kenya. Boston. The world.

I help boards, hospitals, universities, and governments turn technology from a cost center into a strategic advantage — pairing Fortune 500 rigor with an educator's clarity and a servant leader's ethic.

Origin

Kenya · 2007 — 2016

From a lecture hall in Kisumu to fifteen African capitals.

Trained as a computer scientist at JKUAT and Maseno, Dr. Ogola began his career in the classroom — teaching programming, networks and cybersecurity to a generation of East African engineers. In 2010 he was recruited to the Regional Centre on Small Arms, where he built the ICT backbone that connected 15 African member states: 13 data centers, regional networks, executive training and multinational technology programs.

Migration

United States · 2017 — 2024

Boston, Epic, and the American health system at scale.

Moving to the United States, Dr. Ogola stepped into enterprise IT at Amazon and Worldwide Tech Services before joining Tufts Medicine as Information Technology Project Manager — coordinating Epic deployments, migrations and device programs touching approximately 15,000 medical devices across a multi-hospital system. In parallel, he earned a Doctorate in Business Administration and continued teaching graduate courses in cybersecurity, AI and cloud computing at U.S. universities.

Frontier

Global · 2024 — Present

Building the AI operating system for regulated industries.

Today Dr. Ogola is CTO and Founding Member of Nova Analytics International, architecting agentic AI, business intelligence and enterprise automation for healthcare, contact centers and government. He advises Tecteds on cloud and cybersecurity strategy, founded St. Thomas Aid Initiative to serve vulnerable communities in Kenya, and continues on faculty at eight universities — a career whose only through-line is the conviction that technology must serve people.

Leadership Philosophy

Four convictions that
shape every engagement.

Twenty years in the classroom, the war room, and the boardroom distill into a small number of principles. They are not slogans — they are the tests I run on every decision.

  • 01

    Servant Leadership

Authority is borrowed from the people you serve. Executives who forget that build brittle organizations and fragile technology.

  • 02

    Governance Before Velocity

AI, cloud and healthcare IT reward the teams that get identity, data, privacy and risk right first — not the ones that ship first.

  • 03

    Teach What You Practice

The classroom keeps the practice honest. A leader who cannot explain their craft to a first-year student does not yet understand it themselves.

  • 04

    Compound Institutions

The work is not to launch products — it is to build institutions where people, data and purpose compound over decades.

In Practice

A career you can trace role by role — or read as one long argument.

From lecture halls in Kisumu to Epic war rooms in Boston to the AI frontier at Nova Analytics, every chapter has answered the same question: how do you make technology worthy of the people who depend on it?

"Governance before velocity. Identity before automation. People before platforms. Get those three sequences right and the technology takes care of itself."

The Second Practice

Teaching keeps the executive work honest.

Undergraduate to executive audiences — cybersecurity, AI, cloud, statistics, leadership. Every semester a new cohort of engineers, clinicians and administrators arrives with the same question the boardroom asks: what do we actually do on Monday morning? Answering it, week after week, is how a strategy stops sounding like a slide and starts sounding like a plan.
